SUMMARY
Role
UI Designer
Intention (SMART Goal)
By Oct. 12, as part of team # as UI/Heads up Display, I will have evidence of Professional and advanced UI that is easy for the audience to understand and guides them by following The Power of video game HUDS by Game Maker’s Toolkit for Session 1.
PRE-PRODUCTION – INQUIRY

PRODUCTION – ACTION
The (FILM, SOUND, or GAME Creation)
Skills Commentary
During session 2 as a part of Team 4 we were able to make a game while the game was rough it incorporated some interesting code that may be useful in future games.
I think for the first session this game acted as a good introduction and warmup for the upcoming projects and was a productive use of time.
POST-PRODUCTION – REFLECTION
21st Century Skills
Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)
During the production of the project, I was involved in lots of bug fixing for example the bullets going through walls which we found was caused by the high velocity of the sprites in addition to the small collision size we ended up reducing the speed slightly and increasing the collision size.
Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)
Designing the game was difficult as we all had tons of ideas but getting the minimum viable product out made it easier for the team to see the base product and made it easier to work with fluidity.
Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)
For the session, I used Construct 3 as well as YouTube for tutorials related to problems I encountered.
Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)
I think practicing working in a larger team was effective as it’s an important skill to have especially working as a producer for the team.
Reactions to the Final Version
“Not bad it has bugs but for a short-term game pretty good.” – Connor
“I think the aiming could use some touchups and the cursor but not bad” – Ayden.
Self-Evaluation of Final Version
I think for the first session of the year it was a good entry session to get warmed up for the semester. While I think the product was lacking in some areas the problem-solving was useful and the product will be useful to reflect on for future products.
